Many people long to see deeper healing in their communities but aren’t sure where to begin. What does it look like to move beyond acknowledging division and toward restoration in relationships, churches, and neighbourhoods?
This summer, a small group of participants will gather at Five Oaks Retreat Centre in Paris, Ontario for Healing Hearts, Transforming Nations (HHTN). This four-day immersive workshop is co-hosted by Resonate Global Mission and the CRC’s Indigenous and Intercultural Ministries from July 6-10th. The workshop is designed for people who are engaged in justice, reconciliation, and intercultural community work, and are seeking practical tools to foster healing in their own contexts.
HHTN originated in Rwanda, where it was first developed to bring healing and reconciliation between both perpetrators and victims of the genocide. Since then, the workshop has been adapted in many parts of the world to help communities address deep wounds and rebuild relationships. Grounded in a biblical vision of God’s desire for shalom, the experience invites participants to explore how healing can begin in our own lives and extend outward into our churches, neighbourhoods, and ministries.
HHTN is for those who:
- Want to build skills for community healing, intercultural teamwork and reconciliation action
- Want to deepen their ability to engage respectfully with Indigenous and ethnically-diverse neighbours
- Are part of faith organizations, nonprofits, or are educators seeking practical tools for overcoming barriers of historical oppression in their communities
- Want language and approaches that are grounded in faith, cultural awareness, and trauma informed practices
HHTN creates space for learning, honest conversation, and shared reflection in a supportive community setting. Throughout the week, participants engage in interactive teaching, guided reflection, facilitated dialogue, and experiential exercises. Together, they explore themes of forgiveness, reconciliation, intercultural relationships, and trauma-informed ministry. The goal is to equip participants to return to their communities with practices that help repair and rebuild relationships.
If you are seeking ways to participate in healing and reconciliation where you live, this workshop offers a meaningful place to begin.
