Chris Fluit
Christopher Fluit lives in a suburb of Rochester, New York with his wife Ana and their two children. Chris is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States. He graduated from Calvin College in 1996 and Calvin Seminary in 2002, and has served congregations in Brooks, Alberta and Rochester, New York. For the past two years, Chris has served at Strong Memorial Hospital as a chaplain intern and then resident. For his residency, Chris focused on solid organ transplant, intensive care and adult psychiatry. In his spare time (what’s that?), Chris enjoys reading, listening to music, cycling, swimming, playing softball and collecting comic books.

I currently serve as the Chaplain / Spiritual Care Practitioner for Pinegrove Place, a complex care facility in Richmond, British Columbia, as well as for the Fraser Health Authority specializing in Residential Care. Personally, I come from a background in pastoral ministry, and felt God calling me towards chaplaincy during my CPE training, which I found to be deeply rewarding both personally and professionally.
Apart from ministry, my wife and I live in Richmond, BC, where we are also busy with our second full time job of raising two toddler boys, Ambrose and Benjamin. When there is free time, we enjoy biking, hiking and enjoying the beautiful mountains and beaches of Vancouver. We are members of the Tapestry Church, where I am currently preparing for my classical examinations to become a Commissioned Pastor with the CRC. We are excited to be a part of the CRC family and look forward to becoming a full member of the chaplaincy community.

I currently serve as a chaplain at the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, CA. My main role is to teach, counsel and walk with people in the Christian Life Discipleship Program -- a year-long alcohol and substance abuse recovery program. Previously, I served as an associate pastor and interim pastor at Faith Community CRC in Fullerton, CA. I hope to continue ministry in a CRC church setting in the future -- along with my chaplaincy ministry -- because I believe God works primarily through the church, the body of Christ. I am a graduate of University of California Berkeley (Go Bears!) and Fuller Theological Seminary; and, I have completed two units of CPE (Methodist Hospital of Southern California, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services). Recently, my wife and I have been blessed with a newborn son, Nathan Luther Kae (I wanted to name him Martin Luther Kae but my wife and I compromised).
