I just finished a book by Ruth Haley Barton called Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership. It has got to be the best book on leadership I have read yet. Instead of a list of strategies, it was about how our relationship with God strengthens our own soul for leadership. It is in our own learning to be still and silent before God that our own souls are nourished and fed. It is out of that place, that spiritual growth and discernment happen. This kind of leadership affects everything we do. Most importantly, it lets God do the leading and we follow his direction.

I think this is a book every leader needs to read. Leadership isn't easy at the best of times. So often we work from a place of tiredness and hurry. What peace and strength can be found when we learn to lean into the leading of God.

This sounds like a unique approach and different perspective on the quiet strength and faith that is needed to be a good leader. I'll have to check it out! Thanks for sharing.

Me, too! And it was so great to have the spotlight on Moses' entire life for the purpose of gleaning those lessons which I think are applicable far beyond our lives as leaders.

I also shared my thoughts about the book here at The Network!
