With summer right around the corner, those of us in ministry are digging deep to finish the year strong. As many of our weekly church programs wrap up, we look forward to the chance to slow down. Inhale, exhale.

But can we hit pause here for just a second?

Before we switch ministry gears to summer, or even (gasp!) fall, can we take a minute to look around and look back? Because right now, the details of the past year are fresh. There have been hard lessons and unexpected joys. There have been phone calls, planning meetings, and meals on the run.

We have taught Sunday school and led worship. We have served as elders and deacons. We have planned sermons and filled out forms. We have welcomed visitors and joined Bible studies. We have learned things. We are still learning things. Many of us will keep serving and learning through the heat of summer.

But what if, right now, we all stopped to share just one thing we learned this past year?

I think we could stumble upon a wealth of helpful ideas, born of experience.

So, what’s one thing YOU learned this past year?

Feel free to use the template below or share any which way you’d like. Looking forward to hearing your stories!

I served as a ____________ and one thing I learned is _____________________.
