After spending the week pondering the content and spirit of the Canadian National Gathering, I am pleased in what it was and what God did in the time we spent together as leaders from across Canada who came to discern the will of God for the Canadian side of the CRC.

It wasn't perfect, and apologies were needed at some points, but together we understood in a deeper and richer way the nature of the church and what it needs to become. Ultimately, much of the becoming will happen through the work at classis this fall. But as the final pieces of data come in, and evaluations are read, it's clear that the Gathering at King's University was used well.

My favorite responses (both during and after the weekend!) are ones that echo many of the conversations I have across Canada. Responses that generally come with a measure of surprise:

I didn't know the CRC did that!

You mean we have resources for that?

Wow, the Canadian side of the church is surprisingly healthy when it comes to ______!

Why didn't anyone ever tell me that the denominational agencies and staff could serve our church in this way!

If you were an attendee, I would love to hear your comments below.
