Are you a pastor, church council member, or someone who is just interested in Church Order? Have you looked for practical ways to apply the articles of the Church Order to real-life situations?
Well, The Network might have just what you’re looking for...
The Network is featuring 12 ministry questions taken from Henry DeMoor’s Christian Reformed Church Order Commentary. Dr. DeMoor taught about Christian Reformed Church Order at Calvin Theological Seminary for decades. Over that time, he not only become a go-to-expert on Church Order but answered countless questions from CRC members on how to interpret it in specific situations.
So far, we have posted four of these questions in the Church Order discussion forum, along with Dr. DeMoor’s answer taken directly from the commentary. Over the next two months we will post eight more (one each week) covering a variety of actual situations that churches and individuals have dealt with.
Here’s what we posted so far:
- Must officebearers in the CRCNA send their children to Christian day schools?
- Is the favourite sport of the CRC shoving all important issues into study committees?
- Does rebaptism automatically disqualify that person from holding office in the Christian Reformed Church?
- Do you have any good ideas for a meaningful and better-attended second service?
Head over to the Church Order section for some practical guidance from a CRC Church Order expert and feel free weigh in with your own comments or questions.
Finally, if you are a church officebearer or one who wants a deeper understanding of the history, meaning, and purpose of each Church Order article; order the Christian Reformed Church Order Commentary as handy reference tool for yourself or your church. It contains even more of these Church Order questions.
