A couple of weeks ago, leaders of Christian Reformed Church ministries issued a Statement on Racism to all pastors in the denomination. Both CRC News and The Banner have highlighted the statement in recent articles. In addition to the statement, staff from the CRC Office of Race Relations have compiled a list of resources for worship and education about racism for congregations and their leaders. Let's have a conversation about the Statement, and the topic it addresses.

Here are some questions to guide us:

  • How did the statement from denominational leaders encourage your congregation to start or continue a conversation on racism?
  • How do you talk about the sin of racism in your congregation--in book clubs, bible studies, from the pulpit, etc.?
  • What resources have you or your congregation found helpful on the journey of racial understanding, justice and reconciliation?
  • What have you learned along the way? What can other Christian Reformed congregations learn from your congregation's journey?
