Each week coaches from the Next Steps Faith Formation Initiative will be collecting some of the more interesting and thought-provoking blog posts, online articles, book reviews and other resources from around the internet during the past week and sharing them here on the Network.
Week of September 8, 2014:
- RNS posted an interesting interview by Jonathan Merritt with Eugene Cho about his much-discussed new book Overrated, which focuses on the cost of discipleship and the idea that we tend to love the idea of following Jesus more than actually following him.
- As churches increasingly focus on young adults and young families, Christianity Today posed a thought-provoking look at the role of empty-nesters in the body of Christ in "The Midlife Church Crisis."
- Over at the Banner, Henry Numan offered some great thoughts on "faith finishing" in "Finishing Well."
- The Evangelical Lutherans' denomination magazine The Lutheran recently featured a look into the changing trends in faith formation ministries with a cover story on "Reinventing Sunday school."
- Back in August, Thom Rainer shared his thoughts on millennial engagement with the church in "Ten Ways Millenials Are Shaping Local Congregations Today." There's a lot of helpful posts like this out there, but over at YALT's Momentum blog Matthew van Maastricht wondered about "The Objectification of Millennials."
