A couple of years ago I was asked by Classis Toronto to write a report about a possibly unique model for pulpit supply when a church is vacant called "Team Preaching." Rather than having individual pulpit supply which is all disjointed, this model coordinates a preaching team to work together on sermons that have some continuity. The members of this team are paid more than the usual pulpit supply rate, but are also expected to put extra work into sermons they prepare. The goal was to create some stability for a congregation in transition with preaching, and it worked quite well in a few instances. I thought the report might be a useful resource for churches who are vacant and are thinking about ways to fill their pulpit long term, and so I'm sharing the report I wrote here.

The material for the report comes from interviews I conducted with Syd Hielema  and Lesli Van Milligen who both had experience with this model. If you have questions about what's in the report you can contact me via email ([email protected])
