I hope this doesn't get me in trouble. I am relatively new to the Christian Reformed Church by way of the Methodist church and most recently the UCC.
My feelings are and have been on communion that Jesus himself was not ordained, yet it is reserved for only ordained clergy to administrer that sacrament. I'm not sure that I totally agree with that.
As far as the mentally challenged receiving communion, in God's and Jesus' eye they are the same as every other person who walks the earth in His love. I think you should feel free to bring them forth in God's love to receive the Body and Blood of our Savior.
