Engaging Parents in Youth Ministries

Parents are often an untapped resource, especially in Junior and Senior High youth ministries. Partnering well with parents in all areas of youth ministries...from nursery to Youth Group... will not only serve to strengthen youth programming, it will save leaders from feeling like they are competing for students’ time and family resources. Recent findings in resources like Sticky Faith and Hemorrhaging Faith agree that parents continue to be one, if not THE, strongest influence on a young person’s faith formation. This webinar explores how to both support and mine this most important youth ministry resource.

Trained as both a teacher and pastor, Lesli van Milligen has co-pastored with her husband Tom for 17 years, focusing much of her ministry in the areas of church education and youth ministry. Lesli has recently joined the Faith Formation Ministries team as a Regional Catalyzer for the Eastern half of Canada. She hails from Guelph, Ontario and is serving as the Youth Champion for Classis Huron and Classis Toronto. She's joined by Ron deVries who serves as both the Youth Ministry Consultant for Classis Alberta North in Canada and as a Faith Formation Coach for the CRCNA.
