What are some of the key milestones in your life? Milestones are significant moments which mark a vital decision, a momentous occasion, even a tragic loss. Part of being human is pausing to commemorate or celebrate milestones along life’s journey. The coronavirus pandemic has been a difficult milestone for us all, affecting a range of other milestone events: weddings, funerals, birthdays, anniversaries, and more.

And yet, in the midst of a pandemic, we mark the launch of the South Coast Beach Project (SCBP), a new summer discipleship opportunity for young adults focused on faith formation, leadership development, and discipleship.

Started by Immanuel CRC and Simcoe in partnership with Resonate Global Mission, SCBP is led by Pastor Willemina Zwart. Young adults spend the summer months (May-August) living in community at a house in Port Dover, a town located on the beautiful south coast of Ontario along Lake Erie.

Imagine the eight pioneering young adults living in intentional Christian community while working at local summer jobs. See them encounter various Christian resources and weekly speakers (as pandemic protocol allows) as they engage questions around the biblical story, missional living, a Christian sexual ethic, theology of place, vocational discernment (to name a few). Envision these young adults connecting with and being supported by the congregation of Immanuel Christian CRC. Watch these young adults as they learn how their story, shaped by God’s story, can impact the world’s story.

As a new initiative being launched in the midst of a pandemic (and during the third Ontario lockdown), we see how God is infusing this milestone experience for young adults with his generosity, grace, and blessing.

We’d love for you to be part of SCBP through your prayers and support. You can meet this year’s participants by watching this video. And to learn more about SCBP and support this new discipleship opportunity for young adults, visit www.southcoastbeachproject.org.
