It is so easy to say, "I'll pray for you" or "I'll pray about that." Actually praying in a disciplined and passionate way is a great deal harder. In addition to good intentions and the Spirit's work in our hearts and minds, tools for prayer can come in very handy.

Since at least the 1950s the Christian Reformed Church has put out a denominational Prayer Guide in hard copy. It provided a list of prayer concerns across the various agencies established by the church. Since 1996 there has also been a Prayer Line which allowed callers to hear prayer requests that were updated weekly. Prayer Line calls fell off sharply in recent years as people began to use email and the Internet more. Lots of hard copy Prayer Guides were getting recycled. So, these two prayer ministries are in the process of being merged.

At the moment both of them appear on the Internet at www.crcna.org/pray. Within the next week or two they will be completely merged so that the daily format of Prayer Guide and the broader range of agencies represented by Prayer Line will be present in the new Church at Prayer. I hope that many of you will take up the task of praying for the work of missions through this tool. You can now print off a month of requests or subscribe to get a weekly email of prayer requests. This will soon be set up for the option of a daily email as well. May the LORD bless His Church across the street and around the world.
