Each year church educators plan programs designed to help form and strengthen the faith of children, youth, and adults. These ministry leaders call, encourage, and equip volunteers to be servant leaders who plant seeds for growth. They work with committees to select excellent curriculum. They pray and patiently wait to see God's work unfold. It's a labor of love and it requires support and inspiration. That's what ACRE is all about.
If you are a church educator, Sunday school coordinator, minister of faith formation, or director of children's or youth ministry, it is time again to join or renew your membership in the Association of Christian Reformed Church Educators. Members receive an annual selection of new resources from Faith Alive, membership in the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators, and a subscription to The Advocate, a quarterly journal focused on topics relating to faith formation.
2013 promises to be a year full of changes. The Synodical Faith Formation Committee will present its final report this year with recommendations for how the denomination should continue to focus on faith formation moving forward. The Structure and Culture committee is also working to assess the current organizational structure of the denomination and recommend changes to that would help the agencies of the church better serve individual churches.
This committee work will likely impact Faith Alive’s ministry and focus moving forward. That may mean exciting things for ministry leaders — like more resources born out of the creative work of CRC educators, more regional support for faith formation ministries, more mentoring, networking, and sharing of ideas. ACRE members will play an important role in making that possible. Check out the membership form below and consider joining this year!
Where do you turn for support, best practices, and new ideas as you lead your Sunday school program?
