Dear friends in church leadership,

In the work of engaging the next generation, we often hear, "How do I get young people back in the church?" Though this question feels timely—especially after a year of declining virtual participants—we believe this is the wrong question when thinking about young people's participation in the church.

As you think about the future of the church and the future of mission, we invite you to understand the right question as you dive into intergenerational ministry. Join us as we (a partnership of the Reformed Church in America, the Christian Reformed Church in North America, and Hope College) launch Generation Spark, a mentorship paradigm in which young adults (ages 16–24) are paired in one-on-one relationship with an older adult (age 45 and up) to identify and solve a real life problem in their church or community. In this way, mentorship intersects mission.

Research has shown that young people who are mentored through Generation Spark are 70 percent more likely to stay connected to their local congregations. Plus, participating churches will be given a research-based action plan that accomplishes two key outcomes: retaining youth in the life of the church and more fully integrating young people in the leadership of the church. Both of these outcomes are crucial for the mission of the church to continue.

Interested? Want to find out more? We're hosting an informational webinar next week on Tuesday, August 3, from 7:30–8:30 p.m. (Eastern) so that you can learn more about Generation Spark—what it is, how it works, and how it benefits your church.

Can't make it? Don't worry! The webinar will be recorded and available after the event.

**NOTE: Even if you are unable to attend the event, please register for the webinar if you wish to receive the recording.
