. . .is when you start your day with Jesus! I bet you thought I was going for the Folgers theme didn't you? Ha, tricked you!
Anyway, I have often woke up in the morning dreading the day. I kept going for a while in the same routine until I decided to start listening to worship music when I woke up in the morning. I noticed I started to feel more at peace and have joy in my day. I've gone down the route of before I stand on my feet, I get on my knees in surrender to the Lord asking, "The day is yours. What do you have for me?"
I've gone into the days feeling amazing ever since.
I remember watching a video of a Steve Harvey interview and he was saying that what helps him wake up in the morning is that he spends the first 10 minutes just thanking God. I thought that was a pretty cool idea so I decided to try it and it worked for me as well. There are more things that you could probably do but the core of this is just to start your day with worship, surrender, thanking God, etc. Sometimes our jobs can be so much that we forget who we are really working for and we forget about ourselves. I don't know about the rest of the country but here in Lynden, Washington, schools are on spring break. During this spring break I decided that I was going to hang out with some students, work a little, but mostly master the art of doing nothing. Learning to rest was my big challenge and so far I think its been going well. Physical rest helps but spiritual rest goes a lot further, which is why I start my mornings with the Lord.
Thats my challenge to any other Pastor, Youth Pastor, or ministry worker out there! Learn to rest well. If you need to, ask God to help you rest. And start your day with Him and the question, "What do you have for me today?"
Watch what happens!
