COVID Vaccine Equity Webinar

At the current pace of production, people in much of the world likely won’t have access to a COVID vaccine until 2024 and developing countries are at the back of the line.
One of the issues behind the slow roll out speeds are intellectual property rights, known as TRIPS, that prevent additional manufacturers, currently without patents, from being able to contribute to global production. Less than a year ago there were zero developers with the capacity to manufacture a COVID vaccine but today there are several--imagine if that number could continue to be multiplied over the coming months. More than 100 countries, including the United States, faith groups, former heads of State, and hundreds of additional civil society organizations have expressed their support for a TRIPS waiver for COVID but we’re still waiting for elected leaders to actually take action so that output can be ramped up.
Many of us in North America have had the privilege of being able to move on from the virus's dangers, but for other communities those dangers are far from over and for them more hotspots means more full hospitals, more people home sick from work, more food insecurity, and more deaths. So how can we live justly, love mercy, and advocate for compassionate and just vaccine distribution? Join Ida Kaastra-Mutoigo, World Renew Canada Director, and Edgar Aguilar from our partner AJS in Honduras for our Vaccine Equity Webinar on Thursday, May 20 at 8PM EDT. Register here.
