Planned Giving is what we call gifts other than cash- this might mean stocks, bonds, IRA gifts, gifts-in-kind, or gifts from an estate or will. Around 15% of people who create wills include a charitable gift within their estate plan.  People in your church may be making estate plans that may (or may not) include your ministry. Many organizations, universities and charities are now accepting planned gifts.

Some members of your congregation may want to tell you about their estate plans beforehand using a Letter of Intent.  This is something that you can provide to supporters of your ministry who have indicated that they are interested in leaving a gift to your ministry in their will.

I've attached a example of a Letter of Intent for you to use,  but if you have questions about how you can encourage planned giving to your ministry, please reach out to the Ministry Support Center Planned Giving Team.
