The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) was created to ensure that Ontario would become accessible for people with disabilities by 2025. This PowerPoint was designed to help churches understand how to ensure their facility meets both the physical and attitudinal requirements of this act.

Some years ago the province of Ontario put laws into place so that all businesses and organizations (including places of worship) be accessible to people with disabilities. This law, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), included mandatory training on how to serve participants with disabilities.

This mandate is not new for churches. It has been there from the very beginning when our Lord commanded that we love one another. The early church in Acts did not make any distinctions but "All the believers were together and had everything in common." (Acts 2;44)

This presentation is a good tool for some basic training and also a way to bring more awareness to those in our church community who live with disabilities. The PowerPoint was created by New Life CRC in Guelph, ON. With their permission and encouragement, it has been used by others, who modified it to fit their churches. Find an opportunity to use this great tool in your church community!
