Previously known as the “Race Relations Multiracial Student Scholarship” the newly renamed L.E.A.D. Scholarship (Leadership Equipping – Advocating Diversity) continues to provide financial incentive for students of various ethnic minorities from around the world to continue their studies. Normally, applicants should be members of CRCNA congregations and plan to pursue training and a calling in ministry leadership (broadly defined).

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

In most cases, applicants plan to go, or currently attend, Calvin Theological Seminary or other select colleges affiliated with the Christian Reformed denomination: Calvin University (MI), Dordt University (IA), The King’s University (AB), Redeemer University (ON), Kuyper College (MI), and Trinity Christian College (IL).

For Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) who wish to be considered for the LEAD Scholarship from Thrive, simply complete the online application. The application includes sections on personal history, educational history, a pastoral reference request and six short essay questions.

The primary criteria for a LEAD scholarship award is based on a student’s demonstrated potential for active leadership in the CRCNA.

An applicant would ideally aspire to work for the CRCNA, a church in the Christian Reformed denomination, or an affiliate organization of the Christian Reformed Church (e.g. Therefore Go, GEMS, etc.).

** The application deadline is May 1. **

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING

This scholarship from Thrive is funded from money given by generous donors to the Multiracial Student Scholarship Fund. It is one of the strategies employed by Thrive to develop multiracial congregational and denominational leadership in the CRCNA.

If you would like to support this scholarship fund, please give online now. Churches are also encouraged to hold a special offering on All Nations Heritage Sunday (the first Sunday in October) to support this scholarship.
