2020 Safe Church Webinar Series

Safe Church is hosting a monthly webinar (at 12 pm Eastern) on the last Wednesday of each month throughout 2020 in order to better connect, collaborate, and coordinate to end abuse. July 29 Webinar with Tara Boer on the topic: Why the ACE Study Matters: Implications for Serving Those that Have Experienced Trauma and Adversity. Tara Boer is a Certified ACEs Trainer,  Instructor of Social Work and Criminal Justice at Dordt University, and Safe Church Coordinator in Classis Iakota and Classis Heartland.  Find out about the study of Adverse Childhood Experiences and how families and church communities can offer important protective and mitigating factors.

September 30th Webinar with Jay Stringer (12pm Eastern), Author of Unwanted: How Sexual Brokenness Reveals Our Way to Healing. Jay Stringer is a CRC minister and licensed mental health therapist who has done years of research and uncovered the deep-rooted issues that lead to sexual brokenness. View the recording here!

October 28th Webinar with Diane Langberg (12pm Eastern),

Dr. Diane Langberg is the director of Diane Langberg, Ph.D. & Associates, staffed by a group of Christian psychologists, social workers and counselors in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She serves on the clinical faculty at Biblical Theological Seminary where she co-leads the Global Trauma Recovery Institute with Dr. Phil Monroe. She is the author of many books on topics related to trauma, suffering and God’s power to overcome. Her most recent, was released on October 20, is called, Redeeming Power: Understanding Authority and Abuse in the Church.

Dec. 2 - Raising our Voices. (A pre-recorded webinar)

Our final Safe Church 2020 Webinar will be December 2 at noon Eastern time. This webinar will feature two courageous people who will raise their voices to share with us from their own experience of abuse, what it was like for them and how the church responded in ways that were helpful, and perhaps sometimes in ways that were unhelpful. 

Our hope and prayer is that these webinars inspire and lead to fruitful safe church ministry in a variety of contexts, and that they will become helpful resources for churches as we work together to effectively prevent and respond to abuse.
