Safe Church is excited to announce that once again, we are offering mini-grants!
This year, we are offering 5 mini-grants in the amount of $250. We are encouraging our Safe Church teams and coordinators to think creatively this year as we continue to deal with the pandemic and its effects on public gatherings.
Here are some ideas to consider for your classis:
-
A Book Club: Over the past two years, many of our webinars have been focused on books that we find invaluable for our ministry. We have had the authors join us for conversations on these books. What book would be most helpful for your Safe Church team? Consider purchasing copies of this book for each church and creating your own book club.
-
A Watch Party: Why not choose one of our webinars and have a watch party with your Safe Church team! Choose an evening when everyone can join on zoom to watch the video and then hang out online to have an engaging discussion afterwards. Send fun treats to each participant!
-
Create your own Webinar: Have you considered reaching out to a speaker to host your own webinar? We have connections to a number of people from our community that could provide excellent training and support for your Safe Church community. We can support you further by hosting your webinar as well.
We look forward to hearing how your safe church team creates unique and exciting opportunities in the midst of a pandemic! Consider sharing your story about what you did with the funds from the grant with our community! Maybe you will inspire others!
Details on the application process:
The classis safe church coordinator should apply for the grant. However, if your classis does not have a coordinator, individual safe church teams are welcome to apply. In that case, please reach out to your stated clerk to let them know you are applying for the grant. Only one grant per classis will be allotted.

Note regarding reimbursement:
Funds will be distributed as reimbursement as soon as possible after an event has taken place or project has been completed. If you are working with a speaker, a signed contract with each speaker or presenter, and receipts for all expenses, are required for distribution of funds. You will need to work with the classis, or with a sponsoring church who is willing to fund the event up front—then the mini-grant funds will be distributed as a reimbursement to the funder. All mini-grant applications will be selected for approval at the sole discretion of the Safe Church Ministry staff.
All applications are due by Feb 15, 2022. Notification of approval will be received by Feb 28. Events and/or projects are to be completed within the 2022 calendar year.
