Monthly Zoom Meetings
Chaplaincy and Care Ministry hosts monthly video meetings for endorsed CRCNA chaplains. Each meeting will have a theme, tool, or discussion topic that will help chaplains in their ministry. All active chaplains are encouraged to attend at least one of these meetings in the coming year. Meetings take place every second Wednesday of the month at 1 pm ET. One hour of continuing education will awarded per meeting. Here are some of the topics we have planned*:
October 2019: MAID
Medical Assistance in Dying is a new and growing issue in Canada and several states. We will talk about the challenges that come with this for our patients and for us, both professionally and spiritually. Read about our discussion here.
November 2019: Ministry in Pluralistic Settings
Share and listen to others’ practices for providing pastoral care for all people while holding to and representing our own faith.
December 2019: CISM
Critical incident stress management is a tool many chaplains have used to help lead others after a crisis. Sarah will share about how she has used this tool and how to implement it in other settings.
January 2020: CCM for New Chaplains
All chaplains who have been endorsed in the past five years are required to attend this meeting to discuss supervision, training, mentorship, and being a Reformed chaplain. We would also like to hear about your ministries and ways we can support and pray for you.
February 2020: Women in Ministry
Being a woman in ministry comes with its own unique challenges, both in the church and in the workplace. Share stories, give encouragement, and provide resources for supporting other women in ministry.
March 2020: CCM Update
Sarah will share what the Chaplaincy and Care Ministry office has been doing, including activities, challenges, and fundraising information.
April: Being a Military Chaplain
What happens when faith and duty collide? This meeting will focus on the challenges of military chaplaincy, including promotion, OPR tips, setting boundaries, trauma, and other external and internal challenges. Military chaplains are REQUIRED to attend this meeting.
May 2020: Self-Care
Please tell us about your own practices, share resources, acknowledge challenges, and encourage one another as we strive for well-maintained spiritual and mental health.
June 2020: Chaplains Training 2020 Sneak Peek
Chaplains Training 2020 is only three months away. Join us to hear more about our conference topics, speakers, and other things we have planned. We will also be available to answer questions regarding registration, our theme, travel needs, and more.
July 2020: Ministering to Younger Generations
The gaps between how different generations view the world are steadily growing. Share about your experiences ministering to children, teenagers, and young adults.
August 2020: Palliative Care
Palliative Care is an area where we need pastoral care more and more. Join us to share about new updates in this field, as well as common challenges and joys.
September 2020: Diversity in Ministry
We strive to see increasing diversity in our workplaces and in our chaplain corps. For this meeting, we will talk about the unique challenges that ethnic minority chaplains face, how to grow in diversity, and how to empower each other to follow God’s calling to ministry.
