A New Approach for Church Visiting (Process Guide)

The practice of formal church visiting has long been a part of life for the Christian Reformed denomination and its churches. It arises out of the conviction that we are a family of churches, covenanted together, in reflection of God's covenant with us. However, as a practice it has been in decline in many corners of our denomination, for a variety of reasons.
Here is a new approach to church visiting that draws us back into seeing classis as a family of churches that care for and resource one another, and church visiting as an important expression of that truth. This process guide equips church visitors specifically to work with church councils to lead congregations into prayerful self-evaluation and prayerful planning for future ministry. Exploration of this instrument may also serve as a jumping-off point for your own church to engage the full Healthy Church Discernment Process.
