Council Devotions: A Year's Worth of Great Conversations

Leading council devotions can be a challenge. If you are scheduled to lead devotions at the next council meeting you may be wondering: What can I bring that will help people leave work behind and draw their full attention to the life and ministry of our church? Should I focus on the pastor's sermon series or the next holiday? Do I create something of my own or use a meaningful devotional written by someone else?
Pastor Church Resources has just produced a series of twelve council devotionals that will give you and your other council members a biblical framework for thinking about church health. The devotionals are built around the eleven church health indicators that are the foundation of the denomination's Healthy Church Discernment Program. The devotionals were written by Rev. Dr. Stan Mast and are available here or below. Feel free to print copies or simply read the devotionals out loud directly from the website.
These devotionals are related to another project that Pastor Church Resources is working on these days: Providing focused support for CRC church councils. Many voices across the denomination are asking for help for elders and deacons as they begin, carry out, and conclude their work in office. We want to respond to those voices with a training tool for elders and for deacons as well as a collection of practical, actionable resources. Pray for wisdom to know how best to do that!
In the meantime feel free to check out these new devotionals. For more information please contact Rev. Dave Den Haan at Pastor Church Resources ([email protected]; 1-877-279-9994 ext. 2712; 1-616-224-0712) or leave a comment below.
