We have seen that many churches find it helpful to hear how their fellow churches within their region are responding to the COVID-19 situation. This includes sharing practices, finding out what governmental/community resources churches are finding particularly helpful, opportunities for churches to work together, and/or which local organizations churches can partner with for the sake of serving the church's community most effectively.

As a network of churches, classis could function as this type of regional hub for information and may help churches find trusted resources for how they can participate in their own local communities in these ways.

While it may seem that this is probably easiest in a smaller geography classis, I can see many ways that even a far-spread classis could have some sort of coordinated resourcing for their churches.

Below is a proposal for a COVID-19 Response Coordination Team for Classis Grand Rapids East that was recently shared with me. As you can see, it is a short document with a well-defined mandate.

Perhaps this is something your classis might want to consider. If your classis is doing this already and you are willing to share it with others, let me know ([email protected]).

Thanks for this, Al!  I can see where a classis could really be a benefit to their congregations by serving in this way!
