What is a Regional/Affinity Group Connector?
Regional Connectors are available to support your congregation and ministry leaders by connecting them with denominational resources so you can thrive in the ministry God has given you. Each of our connectors serve a region of the CRCNA. In addition, our Affinity Group Connectors are the point people for our Hispanic, Korean, SEAPI, and youth/young adult members.
What region or affinity group do you serve?
As a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, I have deep roots in the community where I was both born and raised. Living and working in this area has allowed me to stay closely connected to the people and the unique dynamics of the region. I currently serve the Great Lakes Region, focusing primarily on the greater Grand Rapids area and its surrounding communities, as well as extending my work into Ohio. This region, with its rich cultural diversity and vibrant faith communities, offers a unique blend of urban and rural settings, each presenting distinct opportunities for ministry and engagement. Serving this area allows me to build relationships, understand local needs, and contribute to the growth and flourishing of both the church and its surrounding neighborhoods.
How did you come into your role?
I have been with the CRCNA since 2007, previously working with World Renew and World Missions (now Resonate Global Mission.) In my current role as a Regional Connector, I have built strong relationships and made meaningful connections with churches and leaders across the Great Lakes Classes, fostering collaboration and support for local ministries.
In what area of ministry are you most passionate about encouraging and equipping congregations?
My passion is to witness the church deeply integrate justice work and reconciliation into its identity, not as separate initiatives but as foundational aspects of its calling. I long to see these three elements—church, justice, and reconciliation—intertwined in a way that reflects the heart of God for His people and His creation. For me, this looks like a church that not only preaches the gospel but actively participates in justice—addressing systemic inequities, standing with the marginalized, and healing divisions. Reconciliation, then, becomes a natural outcome, fostering unity within the body of Christ and between diverse communities. I believe that when these are woven together, we see God's kingdom at work in powerful and transformative ways
