THIS Wednesday (yes, that's TOMORROW, May 16th, Noon EST) we have the opportunity to participate in a webinar geared to the work of the deacons - "Be An Effective Deacon In Today's Church". It is being presented by Bernita Tuinenga and Dave Ellens, who are Co-Executive Directors of Volunteers In Service (VIS)

I think it's going to be a good one, and really helpful for those of us in diaconal ministry. If you're not sure, here's an introduction:

BE AN EFFECTIVE DEACON IN TODAY'S CHURCH
Do you want to settle for being an average deacon who only responds to immediate needs or do you want to fully embrace your calling as ministers of mercy? Many deacons today are not trained and prepared to fulfill their role in the church. Join us as we identify the main roles of the deacon, discuss how deacons can be more effective with benevolence needs, as well as learn how to encourage good stewardship of time, talent and finances in the congregation. Even though this workshop is geared to deacons, other church leaders may find it helpful.

Click here to register, or if you can't watch it live, check it out in the video archive. (It's usually posted by the next day!).

If you are interested in seeing the other webinars that are available, or would like to make a suggestion about a future webinar topic, you can do that on the Webinars page of the Network!

Comments

Hi this would have been good to listen to, but I was informed of it to late, maybe a little more notice would be good. And in the archive part of it is missing.

Grace, you're absolutely right.  I'm sorry I didn't relay this information sooner.  During the webinar we lost sound (twice) for a bit - is that the part that is missing, or is there more missing?
