East Leonard CRC in Grand Rapids, Mich., is looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant.
General Summary
The Administrative Assistant will assume general responsibilities of clerical and office support duties of the church. The position is hourly, based on 10-hours per week. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible to the Pastor and the Administrative Committee and will work in cooperation with all members of the Ministries Team, Council, and other church committees, leaders, and members.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Professed love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as evidenced in personal words and actions.
- At least one (1) year of prior experience working in an office setting; preferred two years.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
- Ability to work well with pastors and church staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exercise a high level of confidentiality.
- Must have ability to provide excellent and compassionate service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic problem-solving skills to address issues and concerns.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of office practices, procedures and basic accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Type and proofread bulletins, committee minutes, letters, and other correspondence with accuracy and timeliness. Mail bulletin to shut-in or vacationing members.
- Greet and welcome visitors upon arrival with a positive attitude.
- Promptly address incoming calls and route them to the appropriate person.
- Create and maintain church calendar.
- Maintain church membership records for preparation of annual membership directory.
- Perform other office functions such as sorting and distributing mail, copying, faxing, ordering of supplies, and updating the prayer line.
- Assist pastoral, ministry staff, committee, and church members with preparation of written and electronic audio/visual materials, using software such as PowerPoint.
- Update and maintain the church’s social media (website, Facebook, Instagram)
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Salary Package
- Hourly (avg. 10 hours/wk.) paid every two weeks
Miscellaneous
A designated amount per year will be set aside for payment of additional help as needed.
Reporting Procedures
The Administrative Assistant will report to the Pastors and be supervised by the Administrative Committee specifically and the Council in general, will participate in regular staff meetings as requested, and will have an annual performance review.
