When a pastor is just beginning ministry, everything is new and in some ways, unknown. It’s exciting, but can also be a time of uncertainty. Having someone to walk alongside a new pastor is key to developing good ministry practices and self-care. The CRCNA requires all pastors to be in a mentoring relationship for the first five years of ministry. The pastors (mentees) are able to choose their mentor—which is key since a good fit is a must.

Toward Effective Pastoral Mentoring is a practical resource for mentors and mentees as they together explore ministry. Topics range from time management to difficult people to nurturing Kingdom passion. Each topic has discussion questions and a resource list.
