Description:

Join us for a 1/2 day of learning about the history of relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada. You will have the chance to:

  • participate in the KAIROS Blanket Exercise,
  • tour the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre and learn about the work they do;
  • hear teachings about the Indian Act; and
  • learn about First Nations' resiliency.

Workshop Facilitators:

Bernadette Arthur is an Black Canadian woman whose family tree finds roots on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago. Bernadette serves as the Canadian Race Relations Advocate for the Office of Race Relations in the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA).

Nicky Bomberry is a Seneca woman from Six Nations of the Grand River. Nicky is the Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Coordinator at Hamilton Regional Indian Centre (HRIC).
