“Sometimes you must state the obvious,” said a wise man whose writing I recently tripped over and thought “why”? Then came remembrance of situations where I’ve been irritated by hearing malicious gossip or foul comments concerning different people groups. A favorite Bible verse leapt into consciousness and yes – sometimes the obvious must be stated.
John 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (NKJV)
So, if the Son of God did not come to condemn the world, who do humans think they are? Which naturally leads to John 13:34-35 and 15:12 where Jesus states His new commandment to love one another.
Many folks live as society has made them and don’t consider specific sins as wrong, especially if theirs makes them temporarily feel good or it will cause rejection if they stop. People trapped by the world’s sins often don’t know they are trapped. They don’t know a better way to live, or perhaps the way is unclear – the path to a better life lies hidden amidst the chaos of continual negative thinking and conversation. Eternity is not a consideration. Thoughts are mainly for present needs and wants (good or bad), how they feel now or may feel in the future. Why should they pursue a better life, especially if persecution may result?
The “why” is found in Christian living as God intended. It’s found in our Bible and our Bible is taught in His church.
God’s house is for everyone, “a house of prayer for all nations” (Isaiah 56:7). That’s especially important for sinners – which fairly describes every human being that ever was or is, except one. If not in God’s house, how will humanity come to know their Saviour and be shown a better way of life? How could unknowing folks be shown why they should even seek another way? How can people find their way home if nobody comes into their world to show them.
A church home is where folks respect and accept you as you are, regardless of where you come from. It’s a place where people talk with you, encourage you to talk and understand if you don’t want to, accepting you anyway. A place of worship shows the path to a better life consistent with God’s Word, where patience allows time for the Spirit to work within and folks walk the path with you. Church gives more than Sunday service, it’s a house that offers hope for you and your family through Jesus Christ.
We’re all God’s children, equal in His eyes. Please, check the Bible verses mentioned above and maybe include John 13:12-15. Then consider how we, individually and collectively, can keep Christ’s commandment and help others find salvation.
Many, very many, especially young people, are now looking for hope, for a better life, but don’t know where to look. Can we be “God’s light,” let Jesus work through us and live like Matthew 28:19-20 shows. Can we help people understand Jesus in a respectful way they’ll understand? The world desperately needs us, it just doesn’t know it.

Thank you so much for sharing this, Dave! It's a wonderful reminder to help Christians to reach out to others and meet them where we at, just as Jesus did the same.
