We’ve all heard someone say, “My faith story is boring. I grew up in a Christian family. I went to Christian schools. I went to a Christian college. And that’s about all there is to tell….”

Well, let’s get one thing straight right now: There is no such thing as a “boring” faith story.

When people say their faith story is boring, they usually mean that they have never had a “conversion experience.” They can’t point to a time when they made a definite switch from unbelief to faith. Maybe that’s the reason why lifelong CRC church members are often reluctant to share their testimonies.

But living a life of faith is never boring. You DO have stories to tell, and there are people around you who need to hear them.

Maybe you felt God’s strong presence during a serious illness. Maybe God strengthened your faith in the midst of a difficult divorce. Maybe God brought back a son or daughter who had given up on the Christian faith. None of these stories are boring!

If you and the people in your church would like to learn more about shaping and sharing faith stories, Faith Formation Ministries is here to help.

Our team recently released a FREE online resource collection called the Faith Storytelling Toolkit. In this toolkit you’ll find practical ideas for becoming a storytelling church, shaping your personal faith stories, and sharing stories in worship, church education, youth groups, and more.

And because we’ll be adding resources to this toolkit over time, we’re curious: How has sharing faith stories changed YOUR church?
