I’m seeking some guidance on how to manage my time better. I work a 9-5 job and also do freelancing after work. While I’m grateful for the work, I often feel stretched and realize I’m not finding enough time for church, prayer, and rest.

How do you balance full-time work, side work, and your spiritual life without feeling overwhelmed? Any practical tips or faith-based advice on setting boundaries and priorities would really help. Thank you and God bless.

HI Matt. This is a great question. I don't feel like I have an expert answer, but I can share some of the things that work for me. I am a morning person, and I get up early to walk my dog. I find that quiet time of morning walking to be a great time for prayer. I also subscribe to the daily email from the Today devotional. I have it sent to my work email address, and it helps me start my day with a short meditation before I jump into other tasks. One other thing that my husband and I did was decide on our priorities early on in our marriage. We are not good homeowners. Our "to do" list is very long and we procrastinate on most of them. Our home is also not always the cleanest (although we try to get caught up on weekends). We both work hard in our jobs and do well, but we never prioritized career advancement or big salaries. Instead, we strove for work/life balance so that we could show up for each other, be at our kids' soccer games, and prioritize quality time with those we love. If working full time and freelancing is getting in the way of life balance, maybe you need to reduce one of them?

Great question! I find that scheduling my time really helps and creates more opportunities for me to be intentional with how I'm spending my time. This does include scheduling in time for rest too!

You're not alone in feeling overwhelmed, and I think that making intentional changes can be challenging but really worth it.
