On March 11, Christian leaders from across the United States, many of whom represent aid or advocacy organizations, attended a "Prayer Vigil for Foreign Aid' in Washington, D.C.
The vigil was hosted by Bread for the World and the Accord Network. Rev. Eugene Cho, president of Bread for the World welcomed attendees and explained that the intent of the event was join together to pray for and urge the U.S. administration and members of Congress to protect lifesaving aid, and respond to God's call to feed those who are hungry, and care for those in need.
“As Christians, we are called on by God to care for our neighbors, be they next door or an ocean away. Our concern for our neighbors experiencing famine, poverty, and instability puts this calling into action – just as we have been blessed, so should we bless others,” said Cho.
World Renew's U.S director, Carol Bremer-Bennett, attended the event and offered a prayer. Her prayer is available on Do Justice and might be a valuable resource to congregations or groups wishing to pray about this need.
