Discipleship. Spiritual Formation. Christian Formation. Spiritual Transformation. Missional Discipleship…
Have you heard these terms and wondered which each meant? How are they the same? How are they different? In a recent conversation, a seminary professor was explaining the field of “Christian Education” is in flux. Where there used to be a pretty stable vocabulary to describe Christian growth, scholars and authors today are using a variety of terms for the discipleship process.
There is also an explosion of conversation in the church about how people grow to be passionate followers of Jesus and what discipleship strategies best fit their community. Over the next few months, we are going to use this format to highlight different discipleship tools that are being effectively used by people we know!
The first tool that we will highlight is Sonship. We will provide information about Sonship discipleship materials, implementation ideas and let you connect with some leaders who are using the materials. In upcoming months we will also hear about Alpha, Triads, Coffee Break and more.
What about you? What were pivotal moments in your spiritual walk towards Christ? What were the key elements in your growth process? Which term do you prefer to use to describe the Christian growth process?
