Lord Jesus, forgive us for not welcoming all people. It is easier to ignore people we don’t know than to welcome them. We are quick to judge by appearances and often forget that all people are made in your image. Teach us to welcome all people, especially those that are different from us.
If we are the body…
Lord Jesus, forgive us for looking out for ourselves and not loving the person sitting next to us in church. We often come to church to get something out of it, but God you call us to serve one another with your love. Help us to reach out and genuinely care for one another.
If we are the body…
Lord Jesus, forgive us for failing to love the people with whom we live in community. You have placed our church here in ______ to be a beacon of light and hope to our neighborhood. Open our eyes to see the need around us. Open our hearts to share in the joys and pains of this community. Open our hands to humbly serve all God’s people with love and care.
