Worship Spotlight: Living Water

Living Water CRC is a dynamic new ministry meeting across the street from Calvin College, led by Pastor Josiah Chung. This congregation is made up of many young Korean-American worshipers, with other cross-cultural ethnicities present as well. All are made to feel welcome and included.
The a.m. worship service I attended was a beautiful blend of old and new. A young and talented praise band led the singing in a contemporary style. The gathering (opening worship) was based on Psalm 25. The Apostles’ Creed was recited together for the Confession of Faith, congregants passed the peace, and The Lord’s Prayer concluded the prayers of the people. The thoughtful and challenging sermon based on Nehemiah 4 addressed the opposition we face as Christians in the world, offering hope and release from fear. All who attended were challenged to remain strong in their commitment to build God’s kingdom, working side by side serving wherever we find ourselves, attending Calvin College, living in Grand Rapids, or wherever God has placed us.
Immediately following the service was a time of hospitality and friendship as everyone was invited to stay for a picnic and games on the lawn!
