Worship That's Out of this World

A few weeks ago I was at a choir concert where the Magnificat from Arvo Pärt was performed (listen here). An absolutely stunning piece with the music washing over you and bringing you into the presence of the holy. Later I was thinking about what the rehearsals of that piece must have been like.
Some of the musical lines seem absolutely monotonous on their own and other parts when isolated seem to clash horribly leading you to assume that one of you is singing the wrong note. Yet, when the six musical lines are brought together under the guidance of a masterful conductor the result is glorious. A picture of our worship.
Many individuals coming together with their own life melodies that sometimes seem to clash but yet when we join as one those separate parts create a harmony that is glorious to God's ears. We need to sing, to do our part in worship and trust that under the masterful guidance of the Holy Spirit and Christ himself the result is out of this world!
