Is there a method for people to register for PAR without printing this brochure and physically returning it to their treasurer? This is very difficult for people with our current reality of COVID-19 and physical distancing, and yet I'm sure churches would welcome the opportunity to have more people using this system. Is there an online form somewhere, or can someone suggest another system for authorization?

Thanks,

Karla

OK. I realize the information is what's important and there's no magic to the form itself. :)  Just wanted to make sure there isn't already a more easy-to-read, fillable form out there before I create one myself. No sense re-inventing the wheel!

Thanks for your speedy response.

Hi Bill,

It's great that you're looking for ways to share your blessings with others! I would recommend first talking to your Deacons to see what causes they have decided to support. Deacons often put considerable time & effort into sorting through the many requests they receive from local, denominational and other organizations, to find the ones that best fit your church's mission. Directing your gift to an organization that isn't already on your church's list of supported causes may be cumbersome to the person processing it, and in some areas it might be contrary to charitable status laws. (In Canada, a donation is not considered a "gift" and therefore not eligible for a charitable receipt if the donor retains control of it.)

Good luck!

My church has just set up a separate email that is only for for e-transfers. We called it "offerings@[our church domain name]". We're hoping this will hold us through this time while we can't gather, and will continue to be a preferred giving option for some folks in the future. There is no service fee to receive e-transfers (on the church's end), but there can sometimes be a small fee for sending one (on the giver's end). We're just starting this, so I'm interested to see what other churches are doing as well!

We are a very small church with no management system software. The treasurer will track gifts as usual; I suppose this won't have the separation of personal info that comes from having envelope numbers. We'll see whether that impacts people's willingness to use this system....

That's a great "double-whammy" of financial help! We have a similar arrangement, buying our grocery cards through our GEMS club fundraiser.

I'm curious if your deacons have any creative ways of "finding" the folks who are in need to give those gift cards to. We know they're out there... but if they aren't comfortable enough to come asking the church for help, how can we help them? Any suggestions on how to build that trust that will encourage people to approach the church?
