In another church/denomination, I and my husband experienced "shepherding elders". While my husband was in deteriorating health and eventually passed away (after 14 months), the shepherding elder was very diligent; however, the pastor never called on him. Given the health circumstances, particularly in the last few months, I was very disappointed in the pastor and it actually led me to seek another church home.
