I really appreciate these questions. Are we, as a denomination, bowing to cultural pressures to take a stand on the "hot topic" of the day? There are many other sexual sins that have caused way more harm to people than this particular one - will any of those get attention? 

We are a small church but we do some rentals - birthday parties in the basement hall, piano recitals in the sanctuary. Unless they are members of the church, they pay hourly rent, provide a refundable damage deposit, and provide proof of event insurance. Other requests, like the one you're asking about, would go to council or the executive for review and they may agree on a lower cost. We host AA/NA meetings and they provide a donation every so often, but are still required to have their own insurance.
