Hi

I have been using PowerChurch Plus for 5 years and really like it. Not only does it keep track of the membership data, but it intigrates the contributions as well. I am also doing all the accounting on it, generating monthly reports that can be emailed directly to the board members.

We just finished a session on "Dealing with Today's Teens" Heartlight Ministries Foundation, a seminar for parents & youth workers which includes DVDs, workbook for the parents and leader's guide. It was presented right after the morning service when the children were in Sunday School. We had a very good turnout and will do it again. www.heartlightresources.com

Hi Brad

We have been using PowerChurch Plus, which not only keeps track of the membership, their ministries and skills and services, but the finances, payroll and contributions as well. More than one person can have access to the program, with limits set. Our chair of council can see the membership, but not the finances without the correct password, while our treasurer has access to all accounting programs, but not the membership. I have used it for five years and am very happy with it. They also have a great support team that will walk you through any questions or frustrations.

What timing to see this posted on The Network. We just finished updating our directory, and have it available to our members in both printed and online versions. We also have a picture directory online, but it needs serious updating. Our congregation is a good size, so they appreciate having a photo to help identify who is who, especially as the young couples marry and have their own children. But keeping track of two versions is a lot of work. I anticipate that within ten years time, we will only have the online version.

But to see it obsolete? No. Now that phone books are no longer being produced, this is one of the main ways of keeping in touch with each other. People eagerly look forward to their updated copy each fall.

Our church provides nut free snacks for children during the service. This allows us to be in control of allergy allerts. When there is a special occasion when a cake is brought in for the congregation, we ask the bakery to bake it in a nut free zone.

Thank you for your faithfulness in serving the CRC churches. It is worhtwhile my while to take the time to read the updates as I  have gained insights and valuable information to be used by our council members and the congregation.

Blessings to each of you,

Eva Miedema

We are debating the pros & cons about going on Facebook. Can you provide more information? How can it be used to bring information to our members? How secure is it? How can it be protected so that those outside of our church do not have access to it? Would like feedback for churches who already are using facebook and if they are happy with it.

Thanks for your help, Eva
