You could have them rebound. Call 519-627-3552. This is a bindery in Ontario, Canada. They come into Michigan to pick up books. If you are not in Michigan, you could ship them here, and they could pick them up.
I love what John said: "I would suggest that churches or classis consider finding a way to provide an assisted living residence or facility that can provide a place for these situations. It might be particularly nice if such a facility is near or adjacent to the church, so that visiting and attending church is made much easier. Just a thought." Although, I would like to see this "thought" become a reality. How do we make something like this happen? We live in the Grand Rapids area. Would Classis East consider something like this? There is such a need for a facility like this.
I loved your article ..... Has Your Church Ever Helped Someone Who Needed to Find Paid Assistants? .... and the question it asks. However, I do wish it included people who have other disabilities. We would love to have a CLS worker for our daughter. She does not have SS so the costs of having a CLS worker are somewhat prohibitive. Churches should be reminded that the families of people with disabilities have shelled out thousands of dollars over the years, and they could be strapped and unable to provide services their child, mother, or father need, today.
I would like to suggest that small groups change membership every three years. If close friendships have formed during those three years the members can continue relationships on a friendship level. If groups don't switch out members, they can become cliques all too easily. New church members can find it very difficult to find a place to "fit in." At one point, when I was a new member at a church, looking for a small group, I was told that the small groups were "full."
