Each year the Christian Reformed Church synod, the annual meeting of representatives of the 49 classes (regional groupings of churches), appoints new members to the denomination's boards, standing committees, and study committees.

Here is a brief description of boards, standing committees, and study committees:

  • boards govern the denomination's ministries and educational institutions
  • the work of standing committees (i.e. Candidacy, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations, the Historical Committee) is ongoing and they report to synod each year
  • study committees are mandated by synod to study a specific topic and report back to synod

The Boards and Committees List is updated each July (following synod) with the membership data that reflects the recent appointments. Terms run for three years, renewable for a second term of three years where indicated in the list.
