The Giving Manger

I was scrolling through Instagram last week when I came across a picture of a shoebox full of snacks and treats (granola bars, M&Ms, etc.). The box, front and center on this family’s front porch, included the following handwritten note, “UPS, FedEx, and USPS please help yourself. We appreciate you!”

The post was tagged #mangermoments (new to me). I did a quick search of the hashtag and found pictures of kids decorating cards to bring to a nursing home, a family picking up trash in their neighborhood, and all sorts of other creative acts of kindness. I also found pictures of a small wooden manger, bundles of straw, and book called The Giving Manger.

A Google search helped me uncover the story behind The Giving Manger, founded by two sisters and described as a "fun and interactive Christmas tradition that will help families focus on giving and the true meaning of Christmas." The more I read, the more I was encouraged by the emphasis on Jesus and having an outward focus.

Have you heard of The Giving Manger? Do any of their service ideas intrigue you?

I have never heard of The Giving Manger either but I loved these ideas.  Some of them are so easy and simple to do.  These ideas are a great way to shine a light.  Thank you, Staci.
