Light

"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." (I John 1:5)

Light is one of the most beautiful things in God's creation, whether we see it directly from the sun or moon, or radiating through trees, or painting the horizon in the evening. It is pure. It is free. There is no cost either to rich or poor. It s a necessary gift. It is useful for the farmer, the builder, the mechanic, the traveler and everyone else. It is a silent gift even though it travels at 186,000 miles per second. 

When put through a prism, its beauty becomes even more evident! In light, we see something of God himself. It is also a symbol of holiness and purity. It is the element in which God wants us to live, serve, and love.

Jesus is the Light of the world. When we follow him, we do not live in the dark. But sin breaks fellowship. We are told that if you have two drops of mercury on a smooth surface, they will merge and become one. But if there is any dirt or impurity on one or the other, they will not come together. Just so the dirt of sin separates people from God and from each other. But, the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin. Then there is wonderful fellowship again!
