New Guide for Church & Web

There’s something I know to be true: everything communicates something. So why not be intentional about what you’re saying?
In the world of technology, an abandoned website says just as much as one that is newly designed. Being active on social media gives an impression just like not being there does, too. Right now, a good online presence for a church is more important than ever. Think of it as your new front door. Research suggests the average person looking for a church to attend will look for it online first and they’ll check out six to 12 sites before picking a church to visit in person. What it your website saying about you?
Hi. I’m Jerod Clark and I’ll be the new guide for the Church and Web network. For the past several years I’ve been working at Back to God Ministries International on a project called Church Juice. Our goal is to help churches be better communicators. That can be anything from marketing to website development strategies. Our hub is churchjuice.com. You’ll find all sorts of free resources and advice on the latest trends in communication. Plus we offer free consulting for CRC churches to help them on any sort of communications project they might be doing.
Whew…enough of the shameless plugs. Here’s a little more about who I am. Before venturing into ministry, I spent more than five year working as a local news reporter in Joplin, MO and then Little Rock, AR. While on the job, I met my wife Sarah who just happened to be a morning show anchor. Now we both work in communications and live in the suburbs of Chicago.
For fun, we love to travel. It’s amazing to see the vastness of God’s creation all around the globe. When we’re home, I’m a runner. Somehow a friend talked me in to doing a half marathon a couple of years ago and now, four races later, I’m hooked.
So that’s me and my philosophy on why thinking about the web is important. I’m glad to be here and I look forward to our conversations. Of course, I want to thanks Mavis for her work over the past year. It’s really appreciated.

Welcome, Jerod. Looking forward to hearing more from you. I'm working on boosting our church website, and have enjoyed following the Church Juice blog and the other resources there.
