Earlier this month, we shared a free Microsoft Word bulletin template to help churches prepare for the retirement of Microsoft Publisher in October 2026. If you missed it, you can read that article and download the Word template here.

Since then, we have also created a customizable Canva bulletin template for churches looking for another easy-to-use option. A special thank you to the church that generously shared their bulletin design and allowed it to be adapted into a resource that can benefit congregations across the region.

This new template follows a half-sheet format, but it is just one starting point. Canva offers incredible flexibility with thousands of layouts and styles, so feel free to experiment and adjust things to fit your unique congregation. Best of all, while a standard free account works perfectly for this template, registered non-profits can actually apply for free access to Canva Pro through Canva for Nonprofits, gaining access to even more design tools.

Transitioning away from a familiar tool like Publisher is definitely a big shift, but it’s also a great opportunity to explore how tools like Canva can simplify your weekly workflow. Our hope is that these resources give you a head start and make the change a little smoother. Whether you choose Word, Canva, or a completely different solution, we’re cheering you on as you find the best fit for your ministry!

If there is a specific resource, tutorial, or template that would make church administration easier right now, please reach out and let your Thrive Regional Connector know. Make a copy of the template today, and feel free to share feedback on what tools would be most helpful next.
