We want to partner with you and your congregation to spread the message that Immigrants are a Blessing, not a Burden!

There are four important ways a church can engage deeply in immigration work: learning and sharing the myths and facts, reflecting a care for immigrants during worship, having meaningful connections with immigrant communities and organizations, and effectively advocating for more just policies.

If you want help in achieving those four goals with your church, we want to partner with you to make it happen. Visit the Blessing Not Burden Partners website here to learn more!

Below are ideas of ways we can work together to engage your congregation:

Education

Worship

  • Pray with and for people without legal immigration status
  • Encourage your pastor to preach on immigration

Advocacy

  • Invite people to sign up for periodic immigration updates and actions alerts from the CRC Office of Social Justice
  • Show up for town halls, write op-eds, and publicly advocate for immigrant-friendly policies
  • Work to set up legislative meetings with elected officials for church members

Connect

  • Reach out and develop relationship with local immigrant church
  • Host a Know Your Rights or a Family Preparedness training through reaching out to a local immigration attorney
  • Connect a group to volunteer or partner with immigrant-focused ministries (tutoring, child care, food)
  • Find and contact your local immigrant justice/sanctuary coalition and attend their meetings.
